Learn what ITOM solves, how the Now Platform works, and the CMDB and Common Service Data Model (CSDM) that underpin every ITOM capability — plus where ITOM Visibility (Discovery, Service Mapping) and ITOM Health (Event Management, AIOps) fit. Get comfortable with MID Server concepts and basic JavaScript. No prior ServiceNow experience needed.
ServiceNow's foundational certification — and a mandatory prerequisite for every Certified Implementation Specialist (ITOM) exam. Validates core platform administration: tables, forms and fields, ACLs and data security, UI policies and actions, Flow Designer, import sets and transform maps, users and groups, and CMDB fundamentals. Proctored via Pearson VUE and managed through ServiceNow University.

Build and configure MID Servers, run horizontal Discovery (probes, sensors, patterns), map business services, and set up Event Management, alerts and cloud discovery. Each exam requires CSA first.
Move beyond certification into senior delivery. Lead end-to-end ITOM implementations at enterprise scale: large Discovery and Service Mapping estates, Event Management with alert correlation and third-party monitoring integrations (Splunk, SolarWinds, SCOM, Datadog), CMDB health and CSDM governance, multi-cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP) discovery, and MID Server clustering. Experience-based milestone — no single official exam.
Own enterprise ITOM strategy. Architect the CMDB / CSDM data model and governance, design large-scale Discovery, Service Mapping and Event Management, and lead AIOps adoption — Predictive AIOps, Health Log Analytics and Metric Intelligence — across hybrid and multi-cloud estates. A senior role typically requiring 8+ years; some pursue ServiceNow's elite Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Certified Master Architect (CMA). Experience-based milestone — no standard exam.
