The senior/SRE and architect stages are experience-based career milestones, not separate exams.
Build the base every DevOps role assumes: Linux administration, shell and Python scripting, networking, virtualisation and Git. Add cloud fundamentals — compute, storage, IAM and networking on AWS or Azure. No DevOps certification exists at this level; foundational cloud exams are optional confidence markers. No prior experience needed.
Automate the build-and-release path. Write Jenkins declarative and scripted pipelines, GitHub Actions workflows, Maven builds and artifact management, then automate servers with Ansible inventories, playbooks and roles. The GitHub Actions exam (GH-200) fits this stage — USD 99, 100 minutes, multiple-choice, now delivered through Microsoft Learn via Pearson VUE.
The core engineering stage, and the track MindMajix prepares you for. Build and ship containers with Docker, Compose and registries, then operate clusters: pods, deployments, services, networking, persistent volumes, ConfigMaps, secrets and Helm. Validated by the Certified Kubernetes Administrator — a 2-hour hands-on terminal exam, USD 445 including one free retake, valid 2 years.
Codify infrastructure and own cloud delivery end to end. Write Terraform with modules, remote state, workspaces and providers, then run production pipelines on AWS or Azure. Move from pipelines to reliability and platforms. Own SLOs and error budgets, observability with Prometheus and Grafana, incident response, GitOps delivery with Argo CD or Flux, and DevSecOps controls inside the pipeline. Optional reinforcement: CKS (USD 445) or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer (USD 200). Experience-based milestone — no single mandatory exam.
