Five progressive stages from Alteryx Designer foundations to enterprise analytics architect, with typical salary ranges in India (LPA) and the USA (USD) for 2026. The Designer Expert and Predictive Master exams have been retired, so Stage 5 (Architect) is an experience-based milestone. All Alteryx certification exams are open-book, delivered online, and expire after 2 years.
Start in Alteryx Designer's drag-and-drop canvas: the tool palette, workflow configuration, and the core Input, Output, Select, Filter, Formula, Sort and Sample tools. Learn point-and-click data preparation and cleansing with no coding. This is the groundwork for the free Designer Core exam, which has no prerequisites.
The entry-level Alteryx credential and a track MindMajix prepares you for. Master joins, unions, data blending, RegEx parsing and transformation with Transpose, Cross Tab and Summarize. The Designer Desktop Core exam is free, open-book, online and on-demand — roughly 80 questions in about 2 hours, no prerequisites, valid for 2 years.
Go advanced: build standard, batch and iterative macros, analytic apps with interface tools, spatial analytics, dynamic reporting and In-Database processing. The Designer Desktop Advanced exam is also free and open-book (about 2–2.5 hours) but requires you to hold the Core certification first. Passing Advanced also renews your Core.
Take analytics to production. Administer and deploy Alteryx Server — Gallery, scheduling, workers, data connections and governance — and optionally validate cloud skills with Designer Cloud Core. Alteryx offers two free Server exams, Server Administration and Server Implementation, which can be taken in any order.
Own enterprise analytics-automation strategy: platform architecture, analytic process automation, data governance, and integration with cloud data platforms. Alteryx has retired its Designer Expert and Predictive Master exams, so this is an experience-based milestone — typically backed by Advanced certification plus several years leading Alteryx delivery.
Outcome: an honest path from Alteryx Designer beginner to analytics architect, covering all current Alteryx certifications, plus the developer, server admin, and architect roles that follow. Alteryx certification exams are free and open-book: Core has no prerequisites, while Advanced requires Core first. Exams are taken through the Alteryx Community Certification portal.
